Adiós Cometa is a Costa Rican band from San José, formed in 2019 by five friends—Jonathan (guitar/vocals), Mark (bass/vocals), Gae (guitar), Pablo (drums), and Ema (guitar/vocals). Their sound is a lush blend of shoegaze, post-rock, dream pop, and a touch of post-punk, with lots of reverb, chorus, and delay to create immersive, introspective atmospheres. They got their start during the COVID pandemic, releasing an EP before playing their first official show in 2021, which helped shape their evolving direction. They’ve since put out a handful of splits, singles, and EPs—including "Norte," "La Isla Que Somos," and the full-length "Nuestras Manos Son Incendios"—showcasing their love for moody, textural music that feels both personal and expansive.
In recent releases like “El mundo en mis brazos (Leonor)” (a collab with Argentine band Fin del Mundo) and tracks such as “Candelaria” and “Transparente,” Adiós Cometa continues to explore themes of melancholy and connection, while their live recordings and acoustic versions (like “Costanera (Acústica)”) highlight their versatility and growing presence in the Latin American indie scene. They’ve been recognized as a standout act in Costa Rica’s underground music landscape, weaving together influences that span from Brazil to Spain, while carving out a space all their own.
