Vildkaktus was a Swedish band active in the 1970s, primarily known for their blend of jazz-rock and psychedelic elements. The group was formed by pianist and organist Gösta Nilsson, who had a background as a jazz musician in Skåne and later studied at the Royal Academy of Music. Nilsson also worked as a music teacher at Birkagården's folk high school, where he recruited some of his students to join the band. During their active years, Vildkaktus released three albums between 1970 and 1973 on labels such as MNW, Polydor, and Ljudspår.
Later, the band changed their name to Ibis, marking a shift in their musical identity. Despite this change, Vildkaktus remains notable for their contributions to the Swedish progressive rock scene of the 1970s. Their music often featured complex arrangements and a mix of jazz and rock influences, reflecting the experimental spirit of the era.
