Bug Teeth

Bug Teeth began in 2018 as the solo project of front-person PJ Johnson (they/them) and has since grown into a full band known for their lush, dream-pop sound infused with psychedelic and DIY experimental elements. The group skillfully blends buzzing synthesizers, raucous guitars, and ethereal vocals to explore complex emotional themes, particularly grief and memory, following PJ’s personal loss of their mother in 2021. Their music, exemplified by singles like "Topiary" and "Warp & Weft II," creates immersive soundscapes that are both intimate and expansive, expressing sorrow, healing, and transformation with poetic lyricism and rich instrumentation.

Bug Teeth's debut full-length album, *Micrographia*, is scheduled for release in November 2025, marking a significant step for the band as they cement their place in the indie and dream-pop scenes. The band members—PJ Johnson, guitarist Sonny Mitchell, drummer George Orton, bassist Adam Bentham, and synth player Alex Calder—bring a collective creativity that elevates the project beyond its beginnings as a bedroom recording endeavor. Known for evocative live performances and emotionally resonant songs, Bug Teeth continues to build on their experimental roots with a sound that ranges from hazy psychedelia to textured indie rock, making them a distinctive presence in contemporary UK music.
