Aloys Kontarsky (1931–2016) was a German pianist best known for his work in a two-piano duo with his brother Alfons Kontarsky. Together, the Kontarsky brothers became celebrated for their sharp, precise ensemble playing and for championing 20th-century and contemporary music, while also recording core classical repertoire for piano duet and two pianos.
Across their career, they were closely associated with modernist composers and important performances in the postwar European new-music scene, and their discography includes standout recordings of works by composers such as Igor Stravinsky and Bernd Alois Zimmermann, alongside pieces by Schubert and Bizet arranged for two pianos or piano four hands.
