Alfons Kontarsky
Alfons Kontarsky (1932–2010) was a German classical pianist best known for his work in duo-piano and chamber settings, especially alongside his brother, Aloys Kontarsky. Together they became closely associated with 20th-century and contemporary repertoire, admired for crisp ensemble playing and a clear, modern touch.
Across his career, Kontarsky appeared on a wide range of recordings—from cornerstone classical works to music by modern composers—and built a reputation as a go-to collaborator for challenging two-piano and ensemble projects.
