Kind Beast

Kind Beast is a Detroit-based rock quartet founded by singer/guitarist Sean Madigan Hoen and drummer Dan Jaquint, who reconnected in Michigan after spending time in New York. The band draws inspiration from a broad spectrum of musical influences, blending guitar-driven rock with noir aesthetics and literary fiction to create what they describe as a dark-pop sound that feels distinctly their own. Their lineup is rounded out by bassist Sean Bondareff, who also plays with Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels, and guitarist Martin Rodgers, whose jazz training and classical background bring an unexpected sophistication to the band's arrangements.

Kind Beast started by self-releasing their debut album *You Know I Used to Dance?* to regional acclaim before signing to Don Giovanni Records, which released their second album *Dirty Realism* in December 2023. The band's approach to songwriting centers on a "first idea-best idea" philosophy between Hoen and Jaquint, resulting in music that feels spontaneous and genuine. Named after concepts from Carl Jung's writings, Kind Beast represents a distillation of decades of electric guitar music, and their third full-length album, *Familiars From Another Life*, was released on November 21, 2025.
