Steve Morse

Steve Morse is an American guitarist best known for his clean, highly technical playing that blends rock, jazz, classical, and country influences. He first made his name in the 1970s as a co-founder of the Dixie Dregs (often billed as The Dregs), an instrumental band celebrated for its genre-hopping virtuosity, and later formed the Steve Morse Band to further showcase his wide-ranging style as a composer and bandleader.

In the 1990s, Morse joined Deep Purple, stepping into the longtime guitarist role and becoming a key part of the band’s modern era through extensive touring and multiple studio albums. Outside of that, he’s also known for his long-running work with the supergroup Flying Colors and for a prolific solo and session career that’s made him a respected, influential figure among rock and guitar fans alike.
