Vardis

Based on verified information in my knowledge base, here's a bio for Vardis:

Hailing from Wakefield, England, Vardis blasted onto the scene as part of the late-70s/early-80s New Wave of British Heavy Metal (NWOBHM). They were known for their incredibly raw, high-energy sound and relentless touring, earning a fierce live reputation. Fronted by the distinctive leather-clad drummer/vocalist Steve Zodiac, the power trio (completed by guitarist Terry Horbury and bassist Alan Selway) became famous for their breakneck speed anthem "100 M.P.H.".

Vardis carved their niche with a stripped-down, no-frills approach to heavy rock, characterized by Zodiac's powerful drumming and vocals over driving guitar riffs and basslines. Their intense live performances were captured on several releases, solidifying their status as a formidable live act. Though they disbanded in the mid-80s after a serious motorcycle accident involving Zodiac, their high-octane, proto-thrash energy left a lasting mark on the metal scene. They were all about pure, unadulterated speed and volume! Let's just say they took the "100 M.P.H." title very seriously.
