Golomb is a Columbus, Ohio-based three-piece band composed of Mickey Shuman (guitar, vocals), Xenia Bleveans-Holm (bass, vocals), and Hawken Holm (drums), with Xenia and Hawken being siblings and Xenia married to Mickey. Formed originally by Mickey and Xenia as teens, Golomb developed a tight-knit familial dynamic that deeply influences their music and creative process. Their sound blends elements of experimental rock, alternative shoegaze, and classic rock, drawing comparisons to bands like My Bloody Valentine, Sonic Youth, and The Jesus and Mary Chain. The band emerged from the Columbus scene with a well-received self-titled debut album in 2022 and has steadily gained attention by delivering emotionally rich, textured music with themes of isolation, connection, and mental struggle.
After honing their craft during the pandemic lockdown by jamming in Xenia’s parents’ basement—both her parents are veterans of the local Columbus band Bigfoot—Golomb signed with No Quarter Records for their 2025 album *The Beat Goes On*. This sophomore release captures their energetic live sound and further explores classic rock magnetism and genre fluidity, incorporating instruments like saxophone and violin to deepen their sonic palette. The band is recognized for their sincere songwriting, blending raw power and harmony, and maintaining an independent spirit in managing their career.
