Sweet Trip

Sweet Trip is an avant-garde electronic and dream pop band known for their distinctive melding of genres, ranging from IDM to shoegaze to ambient music. Formed in 1993 in San Francisco by Filipino-American musician and producer Roberto Burgos, the collective quickly became a staple in the underground electronic music scene with their innovative soundscapes and ethereal vocals. Over the years, the group has included a rotating ensemble of musicians, with Valerie Cooper emerging as a key vocalist and instrumentalist alongside Burgos.

Renowned for their 2003 album "Velocity: Design: Comfort." which has been heralded as a groundbreaking work for its seamless integration of glitchy beats with lush, melodic textures, Sweet Trip's influence has spanned across genres and earned them a dedicated following. Following a hiatus after their third record "You Will Never Know Why" in 2009, the band made a welcome return with a series of reissues and new projects. In 2021, they released the album "A Tiny House, In Secret Speeches, Polar Equals," which signaled a resurgent creative energy while still maintaining the experimental essence that originally defined their sound. The continued remastering and expansion of their previous works, such as the "Alura (Expanded Edition)" and "Halica: Bliss Out v.11 (Expanded Edition)," further cements Sweet Trip's legacy as pioneers who continually innovate within the ever-evolving landscape of electronic music.
