Fjarill

Fjarill is a Hamburg-based musical duo composed of the Swedish singer and pianist Aino Löwenmark and the South African violinist Hanmari Spiegel. They met in Hamburg in 2004 and have since become a prominent part of the German music scene, blending folk, pop, jazz, and classical elements into their unique sound. Their music often features vocals in multiple languages, including English, German, Swedish, and Afrikaans, creating a universal warmth and poetic border crossing. Over the years, Fjarill has released several albums, including "Stark," "Pilgrim," "Livet," "Tiden," "Stilla Tyd," "Kom Hem," "Midsommar," and most recently, "Poësi" and "Walden." Their performances have captivated audiences across Europe and beyond, with notable appearances at venues like the Elbphilharmonie.

Fjarill's music is characterized by its gentle yet powerful sound, often incorporating lyrics from their home countries, as well as set poems by famous authors. Their recent work includes setting poems by Nelly Sachs and Pär Lagerkvist to music on their album "Poësi," which combines deeply sad and dreamlike poetry with their distinctive soundscapes. The duo's dedication to creating sincere and harmonious music has earned them a loyal following and critical acclaim.
