Leopold Mozart was an Austrian composer, violinist, and music teacher. He is best known as the father of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Leopold was born in Augsburg, Germany, in 1719. He studied music at the University of Salzburg and later became a court musician in Vienna. In 1747, he married Anna Maria Pertl, and they had seven children, including Wolfgang Amadeus. Leopold was a strict and demanding teacher, and he played a major role in his son's musical development. He also wrote several books on music theory and composition. Leopold Mozart died in Salzburg in 1787.
