Frank Loesser was an American composer and lyricist who wrote some of the most beloved songs of the 20th century. Born in New York City in 1910, Loesser began his career as a songwriter for Broadway musicals in the 1930s. He wrote the music and lyrics for such classic shows as "Guys and Dolls" (1950), "The Most Happy Fella" (1956), and "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying" (1961). Loesser also wrote a number of hit songs for films, including "Baby, It's Cold Outside" (1949) and "Luck Be a Lady" (1950). He died in New York City in 1969 at the age of 59.
