Francesco Maria Veracini (1690–1768) was an Italian composer and violinist known for his virtuosic playing and bold, imaginative compositions. Born in Florence, he gained a reputation across Europe for his fiery personality and technically demanding violin works. Veracini spent time in London, Venice, and Dresden, working with major musical figures of his time and composing operas, overtures, and sonatas that showcased his adventurous harmonic language.
