Persian Traditional

Persian traditional music, also known as Iranian classical music, is an intricate and spiritual genre rooted in the rich history and culture of Iran. This modal music, based on a system of scales and modes called "dastgah," is characterized by its emotive melodies, elaborate improvisation, and sophisticated rhythms. The genre often intertwines poetry, particularly the works of Sufi poets like Rumi and Hafez, with complex instrumental performances and heartfelt singing. The presence and mastery of traditional instruments such as the setar, tar, santur, and kamancheh, complemented by soulful voices, define its unique sound. Ensemble performances may vary from solemn and introspective to lively and dynamic, capturing themes of love, philosophy, and the human connection with the divine.
