Lantlôs

Lantlôs is an avant-garde band that defies easy categorization, often associated with the black metal genre but possessing a musical identity that transcends the confines of any single musical style. Originally formed in 2005, the band hails from Germany, it's conceived and led by multi-instrumentalist Markus Siegenhort. Over the years, Lantlôs has carved a niche for itself in the extreme metal world, introducing elements of post-metal, shoegaze, and jazz.

Their debut album ".neon" released in 2010, firmly established them within the black metal scene, where they were noted for their atmospheric fusion of heavy metal ferocity with more ethereal soundscapes. The 2011 follow-up "Agape" took things further into the realm of ambient and post-metal, while 2014's "Melting Sun" marked a stylistic shift towards a less harsh, more melody-oriented and ethereal sound, almost entirely shedding their black metal roots for what some described as "post-black metal shoegazing." After a substantial hiatus, Lantlôs returned in 2021 with "Wildhund," showcasing a dynamic exploration of genres and a reinvented sonic palette that continued to defy expectations. Their latest offerings such as "LOWBREATHHIFEELLOWLIFEHIHOPES" and "IDONTKNOW" further indicate Lantlôs’s progression into uncharted musical territory, displaying an ongoing commitment to evolution and reinvention.
