Big Room

Big room is a subgenre of electronic dance music characterized by its energetic, festival-friendly sound. Born in the early 2010s, it evolved from the fusion of electro house, progressive house, and EDM. Marked by driving rhythms, soaring melodies, and often, euphoric buildups, big room tracks typically feature anthemic synth leads, pulsating basslines, and catchy vocal hooks. This genre reached its peak popularity around 2013-2015, dominating festival mainstages and club playlists. Big room's cultural significance lies in its ability to unite diverse crowds through its infectious, hands-in-the-air energy. While drawing from similar styles like trance and electro, big room's distinctiveness stems from its emphasis on simplicity, catchiness, and maximum dancefloor impact, making it a staple of modern electronic music.
