Coupe-decale

Coupé-Décalé is a high-energy dance music genre that originated in Côte d'Ivoire in the early 2000s, embodying a vivacious spirit and an avenue for celebration and escapism. It's characterized by rhythmic percussion, electronic melodies, and distinctive African beats, often accompanied by call-and-response vocals. The genre encourages positive vibes and spirited dancing, with a style that reflects the flamboyance and fashion of its performers. The syncopated rhythms and Ivorian cultural influences are evident in the works of artists like DJ Arafat, who played a pivotal role in popularizing the genre. Coupé-Décalé is more than music; it's a cultural phenomenon that serves as a soundtrack for Ivorian resilience and jubilation, resonating through dance clubs and parties across Africa and the world.
