Grupera
Grupera, also known as Grupero, is a genre of Mexican regional music that blends traditional Mexican sounds with elements of Latin pop, cumbia, and ranchera. It emerged in the late 1980s and early 1990s, capturing the essence of Mexican culture with a modern twist. Characterized by the use of keyboards, electric guitars, bass, and drums, grupera bands often incorporate romantic lyrics and smooth, harmonious vocals that speak to the heart of the everyday person. The genre is known for its sentimental ballads and mid-tempo songs that often tell stories of love, heartbreak, and social issues. Grupera bands and solo artists, such as Los Bukis led by Marco Antonio Solís, Los Temerarios, and Ana Bárbara, have gained widespread popularity across Latin America with their relatable lyrics and fusion of traditional and contemporary musical styles.
