Rave

Rave music emerged in the late 1980s and peaked in popularity in the 1990s, characterized by fast-paced, energetic rhythms (often between 120-150 BPM), heavy use of synthesized leads, and prominent basslines. Born from the UK's acid house and techno scenes, rave music emphasized a collective, hedonistic experience, often featuring distorted, filtered vocals and simplistic, catchy melodies. Key to its cultural significance was its ability to unite disparate groups under a shared love of music and dance, transcending social boundaries and fueling the growth of electronic dance music (EDM) culture. Rave's distinctive sound, marked by frenetic energy and a sense of sonic chaos, set it apart from more polished, commercial EDM styles, while its influence can be seen in later genres like hardcore and drum and bass.
