SKLOSS is a husband-and-wife duo from Austin, Texas, formed during the COVID lockdown. The band consists of Karen Skloss, a drummer and vocalist, and Sandy Carson, a guitarist and vocalist. Karen is also a filmmaker known for editing films about artists like Syd Barrett and Townes Van Zandt, while Sandy is a former professional BMX rider turned photographer and cinematographer. SKLOSS blends elements of heavy psychedelia, post-metal drones, meditative drums, and distorted riffs, creating a unique sound they describe as "Space Gaze." Their music serves as an outlet and response to the world around them, often incorporating themes of introspection and cosmic exploration.
SKLOSS has released a self-titled debut EP, 'Voices Travel Through This,' in 2022, and their debut album, 'The Pattern Speaks,' was released on March 7, 2025, via Fuzz Club Records. The duo has performed at notable events like the Levitation Festival and SXSW, sharing stages with acts such as Divide & Dissolve and The Well. Their immersive audio-visual performances have also been showcased in unique settings like the Iconic Echo Bridge and the James Turrell Skyspace at UT Austin.
