Karadeniz Turkuleri

Karadeniz Türküleri, or Black Sea folk music, is a vibrant genre deeply rooted in the lush, mountainous regions bordering the Black Sea in Turkey. Characterized by its energetic tempos, the genre often features traditional instruments such as the "kemençe" (a bowed string instrument), "tulum" (a type of bagpipe), and the "davul" (a drum). The music carries the emotional weight of the region's history, struggles, and the jovial spirit of its people, with lyrics that often reflect the daily lives, love stories, and the natural beauty of the Black Sea region. Artists like Cengiz Özkan and Selçuk Balcı exemplify the soulful vocals and authentic soundscapes that resonate with listeners, while bands such as Koliva infuse contemporary influences, ensuring the genre's evolution and continued relevance in the Turkish music scene.
