Tibor Varga (1921–2003) was a Hungarian-born classical violinist and conductor known for his refined technique and deep musicality, especially in core European repertoire. Over the course of his career he built a strong reputation both on the concert stage and in the studio, leaving behind a substantial recorded legacy that includes major violin concertos by composers like Bartók, Beethoven, Bruch, Mozart, and Tchaikovsky.
Beyond performing, Varga was also an influential teacher and musical organizer. He founded the Tibor Varga International Violin Competition and the Tibor Varga Festival in Sion, Switzerland, helping turn the city into a notable hub for violin performance and education.
